PolyBraid
Stainless
The work horse for strip grazing. A
tight-braided configuration with 9 strands of
stainless steel conductors for added strength.
If you are going to be moving it often and rolling
up on reels this poly wire will hold up and last.
Item # W23--660' $21.00
Item # W24--1320' $42.00 |

Insulated
Wire (Underground Cable)
12.5 ga. class III galvanized. The wire is of
softer nature and not hi-tensile, which make it
easier to work with on your hook-ups. Use it also
for lead out wire and numerous connections on your
electric fencing system.
Item #W410 - 100' coil $19.50
Item #W411 - 500' coil $89.50 |

Q:
What’s your options for average permanent farm fence
- livestock containment?
A: Well, we have barbed wire now in several
configurations, woven wire in many configurations,
and we have high tensile wire in many
configurations. What’s the best?
I think there are too many variables to say any one
is the best for everyone. If you threw out budget,
longevity, aesthetics, etc, there could still be some
discussion points.
We personally feel that based on budget, longevity
and ease of installation that Hi-Tensile wire is a
no brainier. It will last 3 to 4 times longer, its
initial costs are less and
it is the easiest to put up, once you understand it.
Our choice for HT smooth electrified wire is 12.5
gauge, class III galvanized coated, with a psi
rating of 180,000 minimum. Most of the HT wire that
you find in farm stores are 170,000 psi maximum,
(which means it has a range of from 140K to 170K) or
a 200,000 psi. While the 170K wire may be easier to
hand tie knots with, it also has about 200 pounds
less breaking strength and will cost more than our
180K wire. With the 200K wire, it is very stiff and
is not very conducive for hand tying so it should be
crimped, but has a higher breaking strength. When
you electrify hi-tensile wire it now becomes a
psychological barrier and will not be challenged by
livestock as conventional fence is. If you WANT to
learn more, just give us a call, we will be happy to
explain the basics to you. Our overall advice to
anyone new to HT fencing
is to (before you begin) research it and seek sound
advice from people with hands on experience or from
others using it. Know your pastures, know your
watering needs and know your livestock. Place your
fences/water in such a way that if mother nature
does not cooperate - you have options.
Psychological Vs Physical Barriers
STEEL ~ THE ENEMY OF ELECTRIC
FENCE
No matter the type of
livestock, we need to "keep ‘em where you put ‘em".
Barbed and woven wire fences are physical barriers.
Conventional fencing is what most of us grew up with
here in the Midwest and we’ve all strung our share
of the stuff. But, with the short longevity of it
and the continual patching and re-stretching, isn’t
it time to consider a better, more cost effective
and a longer lived type of fence? The key factor of
an effective Electric Fence is to make sure that you
power it with an adequate charger. Sure, you need to
first build a substantial fence - but the key factor
is purely psychological. This type of fence works on
the brain of the animal, or more specifically "on
the remembering power of the shock they receive". If
you try to save a little money and install a cheap
"farm store" charger you will likely get a whimpy
response on the remembering power of the animal. You
need to "knock their socks" off ! After that first
encounter they will be educated and respectful of
that strange new smooth wire. In fact, they will be
more respectful of all your other fences as well.
Our
Hi-Tensile smooth wire is 12.5 gauge, has a class III
coating, with a breaking strength of 1358 pounds. Its
tensile strength is 180,000 psi, and that is the minimum psi.
When you compare wire you should know if the psi rating is
maximum or minimum. This wire is a minimum of 180,000. Much
of the wire found in farm stores is a maximum rating of
170,000, which means that it may have a range of from 140K
to 170K. Our 180k minimum will have a couple hundred pounds
more in the breaking strength rating. The 180K wire is a
little stiffer than the 170K wire, however we (and our
customers) have no problem with hand tied knots. It works
with ease. If you crimp rather than tie hand knots, then you
get the added benefit of the higher breaking strength. When
crimping, we recommend the C2L crimp that has a 1500 pound
holding power, compared to the 900 pounds of the standard
C23 crimp sleeve. Some people use two of the C23’s. With the
longer C2L you can get two full crimp bites on the sleeve.

"Professional" Spinning Jenny
This jenny is a well made unit that will
withstand a lot of use. It is blue in color. This one has
wire guide loops top and bottom and adjustable spring
tension The SJWW will also accept the coils of vinyl coated
hi-tensile wire such as HotCote, White Lightning, and
others. The top ring lifts off by loosening two bolts. Fully
adjustable. Very heavy duty & works great.

Standard Wire Dispenser
"Spinning Jenny"
Item # T140 - $85.00 each
This is our standard Spinning Jenny
for dispensing Hi-tensile wire. It is quite adequate for
most agricultural purposes. It has a spring tension
adjustment that can be tightened or proper unroll rates.
There is a lock nut to keep it snug. The coil holders have a
thumb screw for installing new coils.
